There’s a famous scene in the last Lord of the Rings movie where Frodo, having slain all the orcs and dragons and having successfully thrown his magic ring into an angry volcano, grabs his friend Legolas by the lapels and shouts in his face, “IT…IS…FINISHED!”

Hello, by the way. This is Andrew from the Too Beautiful To Live Podcast. I hope this email finds you well.

I’ve got to be honest, I’ve never actually seen the last Lord of the Rings movie, but I assume something like that happens. And if so, I can certainly relate to how Frodo was feeling in that moment!

Why, you ask? Because, my friends, just moments ago, I zipped-up all the files for our TBTL Greatest Hits album and dropped them into the vault at Pirates Press, the company that’s cutting the vinyl record for us. The vault was my version of Mt. Doom. The files, my Invisi-ring. And as for all those dragons and orcs? Maybe those were my insecurities and self doubts along the way. But I defeated them, just as Frodo defeated all those tree people.

So, where does that leave you, the TBTL donors who contributed during the last TBTL-a-Thon and who’ve been waiting for your records to arrive? Well, I consider you to be the patient Gandalf-type, back in The Shire, mindlessly poking at the hearth and wondering when your heroes (the album) will finally arrive home.

Well, fear not, my anxious wizards! It’s now just a matter of time. Test pressings are in the works, and once we give final approval, the records will be zipping through the US Postal Service faster than Aragorn on his speeder bike!

We sincerely appreciate your patience these past few months. I don’t want to oversell the record and raise your expectations too high, but I will say that Luke and I had a blast pulling all the greatest hits together and recording new tracks for the album. I hope you love it as much as we do.

In the meantime, I hope you all have a wonderful, stress-free weekend. As for me? I’m going to watch Revenge of the King right now to see how many of those movie details I got right!

Luke and I will talk to you on Monday.

#4579 A Chameleon’s Wedding Day
Monday, October 20
After a big win and a big loss over the weekend, the Seattle Mariners now face one game that will determine whether or not they go to the World Series for the very first time. Luke and Andrew check-in on their feelings. And Andrew explains the very non-baseball reason he’s been feeling an immense amount of anxiety lately.

#4580 It Gets Vedder
Tuesday, October 21
The Seattle Mariners are not going to the World Series. But Luke and Andrew are doing surprisingly okay this morning. Plus, more listeners weigh-in on the “best beer experience” list, as well as situational popcorn.

#4581 The Road Less Graveled
Wednesday, October 22
Now that there’s no more baseball to discuss, Luke and Andrew’s conversations turn to lawn care and how gravel maintenance has Luke reconsidering his relationship with Amazon.com. They also explore more creative names for sunshowers from around the world, thanks to listener Marissa.

#4582 Well, Well, Well
Thursday, October 23
Luke finally lifted the metal plate that covers the well in his driveway to find out what exactly is down there. He offers Andrew a full report. They also discuss a Washington Post piece about a slang phrase the youth are using -- or, were using, until the Washington Post wrote about  it. And Luke picked the absolute worst time to become a Blazers fan.

#4583 Rapped Attention
Friday, October 24
Luke will be hosting a Halloween pet costume party this weekend. He’s also getting more into Bluesky these days. Meanwhile, Andrew sets the record straight on a classic scene from Superman IV.
