The Great TBTL Billboard Hunt may be over, but the Great TBTL-Actually-Has-An-Honest-To-Gosh-Billboard-Out-In-The-World Era has begun!

Hello, everybody, and welcome to a very rare mid-week edition of the TBTL newsletter. I hope this email finds you well.

After five weeks of clues (some more helpful than others) and hundreds upon hundreds of guesses submitted by you, the listening audience, we finally unveiled the location of our brand new TBTL billboard on yesterday’s podcast.

In case you missed it, the location of our new, high-profile marketing campaign is just outside a little village called Friendship, Wisconsin!

Boasting a population of 680 people, Friendship is home to the Adams County Historical Society, the Roche-a-Cri Petroglyphs, and a little diner called The Friendship Café that serves “the best potato pancakes in the area” according to a 2022 Yelp review by someone named Nick.

Friendship will also be home to this year’s TBTL-a-Thon! Luke, Jon and I will set-up shop in the tiny downtown area, where we’ll be streaming live episodes on YouTube, taking your phone calls, and doing other fun things that require the type of high speed internet that small, rural villages are known for.

We’ll have more details on the ‘Thon in coming weeks (it starts on July 21st, by the way). But for now, let’s talk about this billboard. You probably want to know what it looks like, right?

Imagine yourself, if you will, travelling west on State Route 21, heading towards Arkdale. You’re listening to a Glenn Campbell song on a scratchy AM station and starting to regret that you didn’t stop for some beef jerky at that Hoops Travel Station 15 miles back. You’re about to reach the juncture for Route 13 when suddenly a flash of red and gold catches the corner of your eye from the side of the road…

Photo of long roadway in rural Wisconsin that shows a set of billboards along the side of the road. You can just barely make out that one of them looks like it might have Luke and Andrew on it.

Now,  you drive this route a lot, and you’ve never noticed this billboard before. Is it for some slick injury law firm that just rolled into town? It looks like a lawyer’s billboard, but not quite. It’s even cheaper somehow. You try to get a better look as you pass…

Shot of TBTL billboard - a parody of a lawyer ad. Luke is one one side, arms crossed, Andrew is on the other side, arms crossed. They're both wearing suits. Text says "CRANKY? BORED? CALL 1-206-414-TBT The Cure For Global Loneliness!"

Those aren’t lawyers! You’re not sure what they are, exactly, but they sure as heck haven’t earned their law degrees. And why do they want to know if you’re cranky? Or bored? What would happen, exactly, if you called their number? You don’t want to find out.

You instinctively push the gas pedal a little harder and take a right onto Route 13, headed north towards Cottonville. There’s a  little bar up there called Mo’s that helps you forget about these types of things.

There you have it! Thank you all for participating in the Great TBTL Billboard Hunt of 2025! Congratulations to listener Lisa, who was the first person to guess the location (although we did get many, many correct answers after Friday's show.)

Now, the real fun begins. Watch this space for more updates on our upcoming TBTL-a-Thon and the fun activities we’re planning around it. In the meantime, Luke and I will talk to you on the pod tomorrow!
