If you’ve already listened to today’s podcast, then you know it’s a minor miracle that you’re receiving this email right now.  

Oh, hello, by the way! This is Andrew, from TBTL. I hope this email finds you well.

You see, the Mariners played a very meaningful baseball game at T-Mobile Park last night, which is a good thing. They ended up winning, which is an even better thing. And I got to be at the park, cheering them on, which is even a better-er thing!

The only downside is that it took them 12 full innings to finish the game which -- if you’re not a baseball knower -- is a lot of innings for one game. Especially on a Thursday night. Especially when you have to work the next day.

So, I was out late last night. And then it took me a very long time to fall asleep when I did get home. For reasons I still don’t fully understand, I found myself re-watching the movie Logan until about 3 in the morning. Good film. Pretty sad.

Add to all of this one other factor: my new habit of spending about an hour each afternoon with my cat, Bingo, sleeping on my lap. This isn’t something we used to do, but the other day he marched right onto me and fell asleep. And then I fell asleep. And then we did the same thing the next day. And the day after that. And now it’s my favorite thing in the world to do.

So, here I am on a Friday afternoon, groggy from a very late night, staring at a cat who is waiting for me to lay down so he can take a little nap with me. How in the world am I to write a newsletter of any value at all? 

Well, here’s my one attempt at making this email worth your while: I’d like to remind you of an upcoming opportunity to gather with some other TBTL Tens and make a little difference in the world. 

Two weeks from now, on Saturday, September 27, folks are gathering at Food Lifeline in Seattle's South Park neighborhood to help package food for folks in need. The event is organized by listener Annie, who says:

“So far during our Food Lifeline adventures we've repacked granola and rice, and who knows what our next adventure will bring. I can promise good company from delightful Tens, Elevens and Fives while giving back to help our neighbors who are experiencing food insecurity. You must register in advance by September 16 via Food Lifeline's website. I'm happy to answer questions in the sTens Facebook group or via email.”

Okay, Bingo just tapped me -- gently but insistently -- three times with his paw. He’s tired of waiting for nap time, and I’m not one to deny him his wishes. These are the sacrifices we make as pet owners.
