Astute newsletter readers (like you!) may also remember that we launched a new feature a few weeks back called YAYS AND NAYS! In the proud tradition of local newspapers giving their readers an opportunity to spout off, this is your chance to share a few sentences about something that made you smile or frown recently. As you might guess based on the generally good nature of the TBTL Tens, today’s edition leans heavily on celebratory YAYS. 

Here are some of the latest: 

YAY to the complete stranger who found my phone after it slipped out of my pocket at 1am on the New York City subway, took it home, charged it, immediately answered it when I called it, and even offered to bring it home to me two miles away. Thanks for your kindness and proving that this big, bad city is only big, not bad.

A huge YAY to listener Krista for organizing all the TENs meetups the last few weeks! What a fun special time for us!

NAY to the aquatics department. at my local Y who canceled my kid's swim lesson due to snow with no notice, even though the pool was open and the instructor was there. YAY to the instructor who took pity on us and let him in the pool anyway, even if he did have to stay on the steps wearing a floaty.

YAY to the TBTL Ten who told me about Hello Again Books in Cocoa Beach during one of the TBTL get-togethers! It is an absolutely amazing place that radiates joy from the moment you enter. So happy to have it in my life! 

YAY to long-time friend of the show, Robb Benson. I wanted to play an old song of his at an open mic night, but the lyrics could not be found anywhere. I pinged Robb, but he didn't remember them since he hasn't played that song in at least 25 years. At about 8:30 next morning, I got a message with all the lyrics and a request to send a video of me playing it live. Genuinely one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.

And finally, a big hearty YAY from me (Andrew) to all of the Tens (you) who are keeping the YAYS AND NAYS column alive and strong! This type of thing honestly brings me so much joy, and I’m hoping we can keep this going for years to come.

As for me, I’m headed out for a nice walk up Aurora Avenue North to return some cat food that I bought the other day. NAY to me buying pâté when my cats clearly prefer a more gravy-centric option. YAY to PetSmart for allowing me to return it, even though I didn’t get a receipt!
