I received a text message from listener Kennedy this morning that I’ve been thinking about all day long. As with most memorable text messages, it was calendar related.

Hello, by the way! This is Andrew, from the Too Beautiful To Live podcast. I hope this email finds you well.

As you may or may not know, I get excited when the first of the month falls on a Monday. It makes everything so clean and simple all week long. Monday is the 1st. Tuesday is the 2nd. Wednesday is the 3rd. It just feels right that way. It feels like everything is where it should be during the work week.

Apparently my synesthesia-esque obsession with this matter was noted by listener Kennedy, who sent me a screencap of the upcoming calendar month. We are, of course, wrapping up January this weekend and racing headlong into February. But not just any February. It’s the perfect February.

You’re probably thinking, “But Andrew…February 1st doesn’t fall on a Monday this year. You just finished telling us that that’s your particular calendar kink. What are you so excited about?”

First of all, it’s not a “kink.” It’s just a strongly-held preference. Secondly, we have something even BETTER than a Monday/first-of-the-month situation going on. We have an absolutely perfect calendar grid. Look!

Twenty-eight days, twenty-eight squares. No empty calendar boxes at the beginning of the month, and no empty boxes taking up space at the end of the month. It’s…I mean…it might just be the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. And I’ve been to a butterfly garden! 

I hope you are able to appreciate this as much as I appreciate the fact that at least one person in the world thought of me when they noticed this. Thank you, Kennedy! I feel seen.
