Hey there, Friendos! It’s me, Andrew, from TBTL. I received a couple very interesting emails this week that I thought might be worth sharing with you. 

The first one was very flattering, I have to admit. I won’t transcribe the full text here, but it came from someone who appreciates the podcast, and it contained some very kind words directed at me specifically, including “hilarious”, “relatable”, “handsome in a way that is often overlooked,” and “the soul of TBTL.”

The sender did not sign their name, but the email address looked familiar. It turns out, the note came from my own personal gmail account during a night of heavy drinking that I don’t remember very well. I guess I’ll never understand how a listener hacked into my email that night to send me such a nice message, but I’ll forever appreciate their kindness and honesty. 

I also  received a note from listener Allen, who also had some nice things to say about TBTL, but also had some questions. Allen first wanted to know if there’s a place to find all of our social media links and contact information. There is! And, since some of you may be looking for the same thing, here’s a place where you can find our Instagrams, Tiky-Tokys and other pertinent info.

Allen also had an idea: “Is there a playlist for all the songs you share in the Music For Your Weekend segment? If not, could you start a public, read-only Spotify playlist where the weekly songs are added?”

Now, I had heard this idea before. In fact, I’d heard it from other listeners who actually started projects exactly like this. But I’ll be honest: I always assumed those playlists were started with the best intentions, but then eventually abandoned (not unlike the “Am I Hot Or Not” website dedicated to Hungarian sports mascots that I created in 2003.)

But just to be sure, I headed over to Spotify and typed “TBTL Music For Your Weekend” into the search bar, and what do you think I found? A playlist containing over TWO-THOUSAND SONGS that we’ve shared on the show over the years! It looks like it was created in 2020, but the songs go back much, much further than that. And it’s totally up to date, with the latest entries added just last week. 

I don’t know who is responsible for this, and I apologize to that listener for not recognizing you sooner. But I am very impressed! And intrigued. If you are the person (or one of the people) who’s been maintaining this playlist, let me know! 

And for the rest of us, I predict a weekend of scrolling through memories as we revisit some of TBTL’s favorite songs of the past and present. (And no, you can’t skip the Donovan tracks.)

When did you start listening to TBTL? How did you find the show?

I started listening when we moved from California to Massachusetts, and there were a million boxes to unpack. Somehow I stumbled on the hot-sauce-pizza roulette episode and kept going.

How would your friends describe you?

Quick to laugh, cozy, encouraging.

What was your favorite cereal when you were a kid?Is it still your fav? 

Raisin bran! Now I eat eggs every day. I already make way too many decisions in the morning, so I have the same thing every day.

What food do you love to eat the most of?

Pizza!

What’s the best or worst nickname you ever had?

“The Brain.” Second grade through fifth. No thanks!
