I’ve never personally used the Apple Podcast app, but some of my closest advisors (namely, TBTL Business Boy Jon Sklaroff) tell me that it can be janky as heck sometimes. And because of that, some listeners have not been seeing the latest installments of TBTL appear in their feeds. I’ve received many concerned emails from folks who are worried that we haven’t been releasing episodes. But fret not! The podcasts are there, you just may not be seeing them. It’s like if my Google Maps app stopped working, and I suddenly couldn’t see my home address anymore. It doesn’t mean my house is gone. It just means my app is broken. (I came up with that analogy last night, and have been dying to use it.) Luckily, we have some whip-smart podcatcher sleuths over on the TBTL Slack Channel, and they’ve found some fixes that work for them: BELLA: I switched the show list from “unplayed” to “all episodes”, sorted newest to oldest, and the last 3 days finally appeared! SARA: Marking them all as “played” worked! JUSTINE: Just unfollow & delete TBTL, then exit/close the app (I may have also restarted my phone but don’t remember), then resubscribe to TBTL!
Thank you sincerely to everyone who’s been helping out with this! As an Android user, I haven’t been much help on this topic. But that didn’t stop me from putting together my own troubleshooting guide. So, if the solutions above don’t work for you, try this: Open the Apple Podcast app on your phone. Select every podcast that *isn’t* TBTL and delete it. Place your right hand over your heart and pledge that you shall never listen to another podcast other than TBTL ever again. Hit “refresh”. Hit “refresh” again. Contact your clergyman or spiritual leader. Tell them that you had been led astray by other podcasts -- specifically Conan O’Brien’s -- and that you would like to repent. Say five Hail Marys and one Torn by Natalie Imbruglia. Refresh. Change your home wifi password. Don’t tell anyone else in your family that you’re changing it or what the new password is. Send your new wifi password to Luke. He probably needs it to log into his MLB TV account. Unplug your coffee maker. Wait 15 seconds, then plug it back in. If it beeps at you, throw it away. It’s haunted. Check in on your family. They’re probably irritated that they can’t access the wifi. Tell them you love them, but that this is the only way. Clear the cache on your phone somehow. Make some of that soup you like, with the dumplings. Download the 24-Hour Party Horn app and go absolutely wild with it. Uninstall the 24-Hour Party Horn app and run a virus scan on your phone. Delete your entire Instagram account, which has now been taken over by bitcoin hackers. Call all of your friends and apologize for the bitcoin spam they’ve been receiving from your old account. Call your senators and tell them that the United States should stop bombing schoolchildren, as a matter of principle. Hit “refresh” one more time, and voilà! -- the missing episodes of TBTL should appear in your feed.
I know that sounds like a lot, but it’s worth it in the end. And you get to enjoy some soup! Okay, but for real, the suggestions from listeners above seem to really work, and Jon made this video with the world’s cutest puppy to address the issue. And if all else fails, you can listen on another app or the TBTL website. Thank you, everybody! And thanks for caring enough about TBTL to reach out about this. While the situation isn’t ideal, it’s been a nice reminder that a lot of folks are out there who want TBTL in their life, and I really, truly appreciate that. Have a great weekend! We’ll talk to you on Monday. -- Andrew PS -- I’m hoping to include more Music For Your Weekend segments and more YAYS and NAYS in upcoming newsletters. If you’d like to submit a song or a “YAY” or a “NAY”, email me here. Thanks!
