Okay, now that we’re all calm and notched-down, let me please introduce you to listener Travis in White Plains, New York, who says: Hey Andrew, just writing to claim responsibility for the big Spotify playlist you mentioned in the newsletter last week. I was able to make this thing because you list the songs in your newsletters. I basically went through all of the back issues (back to 2015, I think) and pulled in as many of the songs as I could find in the system. It took a while, but it was totally worth it. I like to think of it as a musical history of the show - credit really goes to you, Luke, and the listeners who suggest such amazing music!
Travis, I’m so sorry I yelled at you. You are the best! Thank you again for doing this. And thanks to listener Levi, who recently recreated Travis’ playlist on Tidal for those who prefer that music service. I have one more listener-related note for you while we’re still rummaging through the ol’ mailbag here. I received a text message via the listener line yesterday after I mentioned my recipe for P.F. Chang’s-style chicken lettuce wraps on the pod. Hey Andrew! Missy in Boston, here. What do you put in those chicken lettuce wraps you make? You mentioned it on today's show (and a number of times before). They sound good 🥬
I replied to Missy directly, but in case this information is useful to anyone else, I figured I’d share my response here, too. Hey Missy! Andrew here. Are you implying that I’ve told the same story more than once on TBTL? I have three words for you: How. Dare. You. HowDareYou! (Also, here’s a link to the recipe)
You know, I really need to start being nicer to people. By the way, I think I mentioned this on the show the ONE TIME I’ve brought it up, but I started making this recipe long before I ever tried the actual P.F. Chang’s version. I was just looking for a fun summer dish to make and landed on this. But I did find myself in an actual P.F. Chang’s for the first time this past fall, and I was surprised at how different the wraps came out. The chicken in the restaurant version was a little more crumbly and crispy, for lack of better words. Maybe they are different because I didn’t know what I was trying to recreate, but honestly, I liked mine better. Also, the recipe calls for a can of “whole water chestnuts, drained and diced.” I find it easier to chop them up if you get the kind that are already sliced. Alright! There’s some News You Can Use in this Newsletter You Can Useletter. I hope you all have a wonderful summer weekend. We’ll talk to you on Monday! --Andrew
